Also on sale are eco-cleaning products, loo roll and bin bags; as well as soap and shampoo bars, toothpaste, hair products and sanitary products like menstrual cups.

You can either buy reusable jars to fill up from the shop, bring your own or use a 10p brown paper bag.

Aimed at reducing plastic use, there have been comments from students for the University to open similar zero-waste sections on other campuses after UWE announced the shop’s opening on Facebook.

Also, dotted around campus are now various collection boxes for The Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme. Once collected, the crisp packets are cleaned and made into plastic pellets, in order to create new recycled products.

The opening times of the shop at the Students’ Union are:

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 to 22:00
  • Saturdays: 10:00 to 22:00
  • Sundays: 11:00 to 22:00
