UWE Esports to host 24-hour charity gaming competition at Frenchay Campus

Update 16/3: SWOLE has been cancelled and rescheduled to October 2020, but the tournament will be played online, with a schedule to be released.

UWE Esports will be hosting the South West’s Outstanding LAN Event (SWOLE), a 24-hour Local Area Network (LAN) event, and esports tournament starting Saturday 21st March and finishing Sunday 22nd March at the Exhibition and Conference Centre on Frenchay Campus.

Tournaments for Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will also be held throughout the event; UWE’s SeaStags will go up against teams from the Universities of Bristol, Bath, and Exeter.

Entry into the event is £2 per person and proceeds go to the charities Papyrus and SpecialEffect. Tournament matches will be streamed online and presented at the event to spectator theatres, where attendees can watch matches unfold live with commentary from volunteer casters. Donations can also be submitted through the event’s JustGiving page. More details can be found on the event’s Facebook page.

During match downtime, attendants can join the simultaneous LAN event held by the Video Gaming society, sporting various console and game setups for the duration of the entire event.

As well as being open to the public, matches will also be streamed online here:
